Before you use this tool
Stitch a counted sample with the intended ground and strand count. Enter the length of the working cut consumed, not that length multiplied by its strands; the tool multiplies strands once.
Results use single-strand length before conversion to whole skeins. Sample each color separately.
Method and limits
Formula and assumptions
The sampled cut length is multiplied by strands used, stitch-count ratio, and wastage allowance, then compared with the brand's strand and skein length. The ±20% range exposes uncertainty from stitch density, tails, and technique; it is not guaranteed coverage.
Worked example
Example: if 100 stitches use a 100 cm cut with two strands, 1,000 stitches plus 10% need about 22 m of single-strand floss.
Limits and rounding
Results are planning estimates from the values entered. Displayed decimals are rounded for craft use; whole materials and repeats round up where the method says so. Confirm gauge, material behavior, construction, and finished measurements before committing supplies.
