Understand why untreated wool can densify irreversibly—and how fibre treatment changes the risk.

Choose wet, spray, or steam finishing from the yarn label and a swatch, then shape gently and dry with support.

Read temperature, agitation, drying and pressing instructions separately. The finished piece must accommodate its most treatment-sensitive component.

Test the complete intended treatment, including drying position. Measure the dry sample rather than assuming the wet shape will remain.

Store clean, fully dry work with its labels, away from strong light and persistent damp. Support heavy pieces rather than suspending them from narrow points.

Record exact materials, shade and batch references, tested care and the location of spare thread. Distinguish label instructions from treatments actually tested.

Route tails through compatible stitch paths without pulling the fabric tight. Test the fastening on the actual slippery, fuzzy or smooth yarn before trimming close.

Support the whole wet piece and align seams without forcing motifs beyond their sampled dimensions. Check the relaxed dry size after removing pins.

Store actual materials, modifications and tested care with labeled repair leftovers.

Assess edge flatness, joins and interaction with the intended floor as well as the repeat count.
