Before you use this tool
Separate the number of shaping events from stitches changed per event: a paired increase may add two stitches. Protect any edge stitches and enter the rows available.
The tool shows two alternatives for the same total: all events across one row, or one event on each listed row. Choose the distribution required by the pattern and use its increase or decrease technique.
Method and limits
Formula and assumptions
Final count changes by events × stitches changed per event. The marker positions place all events across one row; the row schedule places one event on each listed row. These are alternatives for the same total, not a combined instruction. Use the pattern’s specified method and check that each event has the stitches it requires.
Worked example
Example: four one-stitch increases across 100 stitches with two protected at each edge give 104 stitches after shaping.
Limits and rounding
Results are planning estimates from the values entered. Displayed decimals are rounded for craft use; whole materials and repeats round up where the method says so. Confirm gauge, material behavior, construction, and finished measurements before committing supplies.
