Before you start
Have the complete instructions, a short list of unfamiliar actions and the materials for a trial. Separate the trial from the final project.
How to do it
- Build a project equipment kit — Read every stage before selecting equipment. Separate essential making tools from finishing tools and optional conveniences.
- Choose readable, non-color-only references — Pair each color with a distinct symbol or written name. Enlarge the key as well as the chart and preserve row and column labels.
- Track rows and repeat cycles — Record the last completed row, not the row you intend to start. Keep the overall count separate from the position within a repeat.
- Resume an interrupted project — Reconstruct the last completed action from the fabric, notes and remaining material. Verify the current gauge before assuming an old tool size gives the same result.

For a train session, prepare one repeated section, its key and a small supply of matching material. Record row, side and next action before packing so resuming does not require guessing.
