## Work through the example

1. Recover the exact original label, pattern size and stated ball count. If only a yarn category is known, this path cannot establish the missing length.
2. Calculate original length in the label mode. Check whether the pattern quantity already includes reserve before adding 10%.
3. Compare fiber, construction, care and resulting fabric. Make the project’s stitch pattern in the replacement and finish the sample.
4. Measure stitch and row gauge separately. If either changes the fit, resolve the pattern adaptation before treating five balls as a settled budget.
5. Record the new label, sample measurements, reserve choice and rounded quantity. Keep the original requirement with the project notes.

## Check before committing
