## Before you start

Gather the measurements, counts or timing sample needed below. Record their units and whether they describe a sample, the whole project or one purchased package. Use a finished sample when dimensions or material use depend on fabric structure.

## How to do it

1. **Read filet cells** — Filet cells share boundary posts. Translate the chart’s mesh convention into stitches before multiplying cells; do not count each shared post twice.
2. **Make a representative crochet swatch** — Sample the actual stitch pattern, working direction and finishing method. A plain-stitch square cannot establish the gauge of a textured or mesh project.
3. **Calculate crochet rows for a height** — Use finished row gauge and preserve complete vertical repeats. Include any border height separately from the main fabric.
4. **Finish assembled crochet** — Support the whole wet piece and align seams without forcing motifs beyond their sampled dimensions. Check the relaxed dry size after removing pins.

## Try this example

An opening is 90 cm wide and a finished cell advances 1.5 cm. Sixty cells fill that width only if the side treatments are already included; test a hanging strip for lengthwise growth.

## Check your result

- Recheck the inputs against the actual sample or label, keep units consistent and round only the final count or purchase. Repeat a sample if a small measuring difference changes the decision.
- These arithmetic examples assume the measured structure stays comparable. Shaping, borders, dense textures and color changes require their own allowances or samples.
