## Before you start

Have the complete instructions, a short list of unfamiliar actions and the materials for a trial. Separate the trial from the final project.

## How to do it

1. **Resume an interrupted project** — Reconstruct the last completed action from the fabric, notes and remaining material. Verify the current gauge before assuming an old tool size gives the same result.
2. **Track rows and repeat cycles** — Record the last completed row, not the row you intend to start. Keep the overall count separate from the position within a repeat.
3. **Make a representative finished swatch** — Use the project’s stitch pattern, working direction and finishing treatment. A smooth flat sample does not represent a textured circular garment.
4. **Measure remaining material from a label** — For one uniform yarn, estimate length from net remaining mass and the original length-to-mass ratio. Remove packaging and keep uncertainty from scale resolution visible.

## Try this example

An unlabeled panel has 84 stitches and an uncertain working row. Compare edge count, chart repeats and saved notes, mark the last confirmed row, then make a separate tension sample before continuing.

## Check your result

- Try the unfamiliar action before committing the main material. If the instructions leave a necessary choice unresolved, write down the missing information and resolve it first.
